Keep up what's happening at Alton Shores and in the area!

Please do NOT TOUCH the water system until the all clear is given. Last night someone turned on a valve that drained the entire storage tank of the Nutter Well. That's thousands of gallons of water wasted.

We will give the all clear when the system is ready to be used. Right now it is still being turned on and tested.

Also - remember to always shut off the water valve to your cottage whenever you leave for the weekend/night - or any extended period of time. We can't see leaks in or under your house and last year we lost a whole tankful of water.

When a lawyer back in 2012 referred to Alton Shores Association as a "voluntary corporation", this is what they were referring to. There has been a lot of misinformation about what "voluntary corporation" means:

Under New Hampshire law, a voluntary corporation is simply the state’s legal term for a nonprofit corporation - which the ASA is.

  • The governing statute is NH RSA Chapter 292 – Voluntary Corporations and Associations. https://gc.nh.gov/rsa/html/XXVII/292/292-mrg.htm

  • The law allows people to form a corporation without capital stock for charitable, educational, social, or similar purposes.

  • The organization is a nonprofit corporation created voluntarily by its founders.

  • Once formed, the corporation operates under its articles of agreement and bylaws, which can establish membership requirements, dues, and governance rules.

In the past, people had to send in a self-addressed stamped envelope to get back their stickers and key. Now, we have an accounting firm handling the billing, so we need to change the way we give out the stickers and keys.

Starting this spring (2026), we will be either delivering or mailing out the stickers and ramp keys to the people who paid for them. Remember we only have around 100 stickers to give out - and they are on a first-come-first-served basis. Each member in good standing can get up to two boat stickers and one boat key.

The stickers and keys will go out after April 15. Reminder: payment is due April 1, 2026.

PLEASE DO NOT PUT BOATS ON THE BEACHES PRIOR TO GETTING STICKERS. We are trying to inspect the racks and perhaps add more if possible.

Volunteers welcome to donate materials, build, repair, paint, and inspect the racks. We use the dues to pay for beach repair, sand permits, sand, beach clean-up, and increasingly, tree removal.

Thank you! Spring is right around the corner. Under all the snow.
