About Alton Shores Association

Welcome to the Alton Shores Association, your trusted source of information and support for our vibrant community. We are dedicated to ensuring the maintenance and repair of our Association-owned properties. Through this platform, we hope to foster a sense of community and collaboration among our members.

Beaches & Water Access

Members in good standing have full access to association-owned beaches on Sunset Lake and Hill's Pond.

Sunset Lake - A 253-acre man-made lake located in the towns of Gilmanton and Alton. Popular activities include boating, kayaking, swimming, fishing, and enjoying the spectacular views. There is a dam on the lake and the lake level is drawn down in October for the winter. The ASA owns two beaches - Beach 4 and Beach 5 on Sunset Lake. There is no fishing or dogs allowed on the beaches and use of the beach is at your own risk - there are no lifeguards. Limited parking is available at both beaches. Kayak storage is located at both beaches and the boat ramp for member’s watercraft with permit stickers. Unpermitted boats risk removal.

Hills Pond - Measuring 93 acres and with a max depth of 40 feet, Hills Pond offers boating, kayaking, canoeing, swimming, fishing, and peaceful views. Anglers can find  bass, pickerel, brown bullhead, bluegill, and yellow perch. There is no fishing or dogs allowed on the beaches and use of the beach is at your own risk - there are no lifeguards. Fishing and dogs are allowed at the boat ramp. Kayak storage is located at both beaches and the boat ramp for member’s watercraft with permit stickers. Unpermitted boats risk removal.

Community Activities

The association encourages community involvement through annual meetings, work parties, family activities like group hikes and cookouts, beach cleanups and much more.
