The Shores

Keep up what's happening at Alton Shores and in the area!

The ASA Board voted tonight to not collect the $275 that was proposed and voted on at Part 2 of the 2025 Annual Meeting on advice of counsel due to the recent lawsuit referenced in a previous update. The decision of the Board is in no way intended as an admission of wrongdoing or improper procedure but rather a precaution in consideration of the pending litigation.

And since none of the monies we have in our road accounts were specifically designated for plowing, we have no money to plow this winter.

For people who have paid the $275, we will return your check if it has not been deposited. If it has been deposited, we can either cut you a check or credit the $275 to your 2026 dues. Please send an email to our Treasurer at Dianemalburne@yahoo.com or fill out a Contact Us form to let Diane know which you prefer.

If you have any questions, please fill out the Contact Us form on the website.

A week ago at the October Board Meeting Tony Burns informed the Board that he had been served a complaint filed by Susanna D. Payzant, lawyer for the plaintiffs below. The Board passed the complaint on to our insurance carrier who has accepted the claim and is providing legal representation for the ASA.

We will update the membership when we receive guidance from our legal counsel.

We are stopping the collection of the $275 plowing special assessment for this winter that was proposed and voted on at Part 2 of the annual meeting. Anyone who has paid it can either have the money credited to their 2026 dues or receive a refund.

Without the funds to plow this coming winter, the inability to maintain the roads and the safety of the community will result in an emergency that needs to be addressed now.

Notice of a special meeting to vote on a special assessment for winter of 2025 plowing will be sent out soon. Those that cannot attend can vote by proxy - which can be emailed, mailed, or assigned to someone who will be in attendance.
